We model the width of thin stellar streams as a function of galactocentric radius under heating by dark subhalos. Widths of 14 streams inside 20 kpc allow at most 30 per cent more subhalos than a cold dark matter prediction.

Strong emission lines that fall in a broad band bias template-fit photometric redshifts. For a six-band survey we find a bias of 0.04 in redshift for galaxies with [O III] equivalent widths above 300 Å.

We select 64 bulge microlensing events with timescales above 100 days and measurable parallax. The parallax distribution limits primordial black holes of 1 to 10 solar masses to below 4 per cent of the dark matter.

We derive a closed-form stability criterion for a disc of stars and gas when the gas layer is thick. Thickness raises the critical Toomre parameter by up to 25 per cent.

We refit the baryonic Tully-Fisher relation with inclination errors treated hierarchically. The zero point moves by 0.05 dex and the intrinsic scatter falls to 0.08 dex.

We allow a break in the Cepheid period-luminosity relation at 10 days and refit the distance ladder. The Hubble constant changes by less than 0.5 km/s/Mpc.

Stacking far-infrared spectra of 40 dwarf galaxies below a tenth of solar metallicity, we find a dust-to-gas ratio that falls faster than linearly with metallicity.

We measure rotation periods for 2,650 fully convective M dwarfs from TESS light curves, after removing blends with brighter neighbours, and find that magnetic braking saturates below a Rossby number of 0.09. Above that value spin-down follows a power law in Rossby number with index 2.1.

We derive the diffusion coefficient for the binding energy of a wide binary perturbed by passing field stars, in the impulse approximation and for separations between 0.01 and 1 pc. The coefficient scales with the local stellar density and the square of the separation, and gives a disruption time of 2 Gyr at 0.1 pc in the solar neighbourhood.

We derive an analytic estimate for the lifetime of gaps opened in thin stellar streams by dark matter subhalo impacts, in static potentials and in a potential with a rotating bar. Treating a gap as a density perturbation that is erased by differential phase mixing along the orbit, we obtain t_gap ≈ πR/σ_v in the static case. For a GD-1-like stream at 14 kpc this gives gap lifetimes of 0.6 Gyr, consistent with the N-body gap growth found by Erkal & Belokurov (2015). Bar resonances shorten lifetimes by 20 to 40 per cent for streams with pericentres inside 8 kpc. Gaps are erased after 0.4 to 0.6 Gyr, so subhalo counts from older streams are incomplete by a factor that we tabulate for five potentials.
